Prime Minister Philip J. Pierre met with Saint Lucians, who were studying at various universities in Taiwan, during a visit to attend the inauguration of the country’s new President and Vice President. Pierre disclosed on Facebook that over 200 Saint Lucians are reading for degrees, and others who have earned their degrees are nurturing successful careers. He reiterated his administration’s commitment to having one university or professional graduate per household and the first-generation scholarship policies that are changing the lives of families across Saint Lucia. The Prime Minister thanked Taiwan’s government for partnering with Saint Lucia on what he described as ‘these transformative, people-centric policies‘.  Earlier this week, Pierre paid a courtesy visit and congratulated Taiwan’s new President, Lai Ching-te, on behalf of the Government and People of Saint Lucia. He  also reaffirmed Saint Lucia’s friendship and looked forward to strengthening diplomatic relations with Taiwan. The article Pierre Meets Saint Lucians Studying In Taiwan is from St. Lucia Times.
