Prime Minister Philip J. Pierre has called on citizens to play their role in the country’s security.
“As citizens, let us play our part in citizen security by obeying the laws and cooperating with the police,” Pierre, who is responsible for National Security, wrote on his Facebook page.
His remarks came amid a sharp surge in deadly gun violence.
Last week, Pierre attended a ceremony where the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force (RSLPF) received three new vehicles.
The donation added to about forty vehicles the Saint Lucia Labour Party (SLP) administration has provided since assuming office in 2021.
Pierre said the vehicles and training of over seventy recruits aimed to enhance police presence and patrols across the island.
He explained that he would continue demonstrating support for the police by providing the necessary training and resources to carry out their duties.
” Operational matters will continue to be undertaken by the Commissioner of Police and his team,” the Prime Minister stated, adding that he had “utmost confidence” in them.
