Police Commissioner Says RSLPF Working Hard To Build Public Trust

Police Commissioner Crusita Descartes-Pelius has emphasised the importance of gaining the public’s trust for successful policing. As a result, she explained that the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force (RSLPF) was working hard to gain that trust. “Trust is important. If we have to solve crime in this country, if we have to make a difference in this country, we have to work with the stakeholders and the public and make sure that there is this trust,” Descartes-Pelius told a news conference last week. The police commissioner explained that if people lack confidence in the RSLPF, the organisation will not receive information from them. “So we are working very hard to make sure that we can build the trust with the public so we can make our job easier,” she told reporters. In November last year, the RSLPF launched its Crime Hotline App, to which the public can send tips anonymously. The Police Commissioner also spoke of continuing to dialogue with local stakeholders.
