Police Extend Condolences After Toddler Dies In Praslin Fire

On Wednesday August 7, 2024, about 12:50 p.m., officers from the Dennery Police Station were alerted to a house fire in Praslin, Dennery.
Upon arriving at the scene, the officers observed a 20-foot by 30-foot wooden structure fully engulfed in flames.
Personnel from the Saint Lucia Fire Service were also in attendance, working to extinguish the fire. Initial inquiries indicated that a male infant might have been trapped inside the structure.
Tragically, once the fire was contained, the Saint Lucia Fire Service personnel discovered the body of the infant, who had succumbed to injuries sustained in the fire. The infant has been identified as three-year-old Zayan Peter.
The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force extends its deepest condolences to the family of the victim.
