Police Solve Over 20 Murders In 2024

The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force (RSLPF) has reported solving 22 murders this year, as well as six that occurred last year.
The police presented the data at a news conference on Tuesday.
According to the information, Saint Lucia experienced a spike in serious crime from January 1 to October 31, 2024, compared to 2023.
Serious crime increased from 1,643 cases in 2023 to 1699 cases in 2024.
The Central Division recorded the highest number at 59 percent of the incidents, followed by the Northern Division (21 percent) and the Southern Division (20 percent).
Homicides decreased by one case from 2023 to 2024, with firearms being the weapons primarily used in the commission of the crimes.
The police recovered 72 illegal guns and 1318 rounds of various calibres during the review period.
In addition, in 2024, law enforcement solved 215 cases of firearm-related crime out of a total of 284 cases, achieving a higher detection rate of seventy-six percent when compared to 2023.
