Pras Michel, a founding member of the iconic 90s group The Fugees, has announced his departure from the band amid ongoing legal struggles and the possibility of a lengthy prison sentence. The 52-year-old rapper, whose real name is Prakazrel Samuel Michel, confirmed the news during an interview with Variety, saying, “I’m done with that.”
This marks the end of an era for The Fugees, whose hits like Killing Me Softly and Ready or Not defined a generation. The group, which also includes Lauryn Hill and Wyclef Jean, has been plagued by disputes over their 2023 tour and personal legal battles, culminating in Michel’s decision to step away permanently.

Legal Drama and Group Turmoil
Earlier this year, Michel filed a lawsuit against Lauryn Hill, alleging that she had mismanaged the group’s 2023 US tour. The suit accused Hill of fraud, breach of contract, and inflating the tour’s budget with “unnecessary and likely fictitious” expenses. It also claimed Hill rejected a $5 million Coachella offer without informing the group, costing Michel a significant payday.
