About 20 years ago, I moved to a neighborhood closer to my job. Instead of parking in the front, I now parked in the back of my townhouse and entered through the backyard. Even with the back porch light on, I noticed my backyard was very dark and so one of the things I first things I did was have a motion detector light installed. Not being a mechanically inclined person, I asked a good friend if he would install it for me as a favor.   When he came to set up the light, I noticed it didn’t take long for him to put the light fixture up.  However, what took him the most time was setting the range for the light. As part of the process, he had me walk from the rear of my backyard toward the back door a number of times to make sure that the light came on at the exact moment I entered the back yard.
