On the first day of early voting in Georgia, over 300,000 people hit the polls leading to a record-breaking turnout. “With the record-breaking 1st day of early voting and accepted absentees we have had over 328,000 total votes cast so far,” said Gabe Sterling, chief operating officer in Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger’s office. “Over 300,000 votes cast today. That’s 123% higher than the old record for the 1st day. Great job counties voters.” VP Kamala Harris and Donald Trump are both locked in a tight battle for Georgia, a swing state that will decided the election outcome. Both candidates were active in the state on the first day with Team Harris-Walz hosting a block party and Trump making an appearance in Cobb County for a rally.
