George Washington High School in Indianapolis celebrated the renaming of its gymnasium to honor the late George McGinnis, a distinguished alumnus and Indiana basketball legend on Feb 20. The ceremony drew a crowd of over 1,000 people, including former teammates, classmates, family members and community supporters, all gathered to pay tribute to McGinnis’s enduring legacy.& McGinnis, who passed away in December 2023 at age 73, led the George Washington Continentals to a perfect 31-0 season and a state championship in 1969.
