Winston Lake YMCA Renovations Set for Completion by Early 2025

Renovations at Winston Lake YMCA are progressing significantly. Last year, officials from Winston Lake and the YMCA of Northwest North Carolina initiated enhancements at the Waterworks Road facility. Upon completion, it will be renamed the Winston Lake REACH Center. Originally founded in 1924 for African Americans during segregation, the YMCA continues to serve the Black community. Updates will expand wellness spaces and introduce a 16,000 sq. ft. health clinic. Collaborations with local organizations will enrich programming opportunities. Executive Director Kenneth Pettigrew emphasized the importance of these renovations for equitable community service.
