Saint Lucia has achieved its best results in five years in the Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) assessments, surpassing the regional average with significant improvements across various subjects. The Ministry of Education unveiled the 2025 results on August 21, indicating consistent growth in English and other areas, although Mathematics remains a challenge for numerous students. This year, over 100,000 candidates from the Caribbean participated, resulting in more than 600,000 subject entries, including the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC), Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE), and Caribbean Certificate of Secondary Level Competence (CCSLC). Nationally, the CSEC pass rate reached 78.05%, well above the regional average of 71%. Notable improvements were noted in English A with an 85% pass rate. However, Mathematics, at a national pass rate of 42%, continues to be a concern. Dr. Pauline Antoine-Prospere highlighted the need for enhanced strategies in Mathematics while celebrating successful subjects like Spanish, which achieved a 100% pass rate.
