Saint Lucia Third In OECS Netball

Hosts Saint Lucia finished third in the fourth Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB) International Netball Series.
Two thousand twenty-two winners Saint Vincent & the Grenadines took home the Gloria Ballantyne trophy after finishing second to two-time winners Grenada in 2023.
Over the past week at the Beausejour Indoor Facility, Saint Lucia won games against Montserrat, Anguilla, Antigua & Barbuda, and the Commonwealth of Dominica, as well as guest team the Cayman Islands.
But they suffered double-digit reversals at the hands of Grenada 56-46 and the Vincy Jewels 56-45.
Playing as a guest team, the Cayman Islands lost to all three of the top OECS teams.
Saint Vincent & the Grenadines and Grenada are the two top-rated teams in the World Netball rankings at 17th and 19th up to the end of July.
Saint Lucia, at 38, did upset 33rd-ranked Antigua & Barbuda, and just held off the 39th-ranked Caymanians.
Although second on the scoring tables with 419 goals, Saint Lucia had the second most attempts in the tournament, but scored at a meagre 79.06 percent clip, sixth best out of eight teams.
