Saint Lucians to Benefit from Medical/Surgical Mission by US Military and Taiwan

Saint Lucians will soon access essential medical and surgical care through a collaborative mission spearheaded by the Ministry of Health, Wellness, and Elderly Affairs, in partnership with the Ministry of External Affairs. This initiative is led by the United States Military Medical Mission Lesser Antilles Medical Team (LAMAT) and the Republic of China (Taiwan). Scheduled to run from Monday, February 24, to Friday, March 7, the mission aims to provide advanced healthcare services, strengthen local medical expertise, and foster collaboration between visiting and local healthcare professionals. The mission will feature a multidisciplinary team of specialists, including vascular surgeons, general surgeons, cardiologists, dental specialists, anesthesiologists, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals. Along with delivering critical medical services, the team will supply medical equipment, medication, and other essential resources. Surgical procedures will be performed at the Owen King European Union (OKEU) Hospital and Saint Jude Hospital, while specialised dental and cardiology services will be provided at OKEU and wellness centres in Anse La Raye and La Clery.
