Saint Lucia’s Nurses Excel At Regional Conference

The 33rd Biennial Conference of the Caribbean Nurses Organization (CNO) saw the election of three Saint Lucia nurses to key positions on the board. Alicia Baptiste is the Assistant Secretary, Debbie Brown Joseph is the Director, Region 3, and Sherline Duncan is the Nominating Committee Chair. A Saint Lucia Health Ministry release announcing the posts disclosed that ‘significant awards’ also went to Saint Lucian nurses, celebrating their contributions and dedication to the field. Yolanda Alcindor was named Nurse of the Year for Saint Lucia, while Sherline Duncan received the Mavis Harney Clinical Nursing Practice Award. Guyana hosted the CNO conference in its capital city, Georgetown. The event ran from October 20th to 26th, 2024, bringing together over 300 nursing professionals to address pressing challenges and advancements within healthcare. The conference theme was: “Nurses Strategically Positioned to Move Health Care Forward.” Saint Lucia’s Ministry of Health, Wellness & Elderly Affairs congratulated all Saint Lucian nurses who attended, presented, and received recognition at the ‘prestigious event‘. According to the Ministry, their achievements highlight the unwavering dedication and professionalism of the Saint Lucian nursing community, whose contributions continue to inspire positive change in regional healthcare.
