Strong Season Opener: SALCC Shines in U18 Basketball Championship Defense

The Ministry of Youth Development and Sports launched the 2025-2026 school sports season with the Under-19 basketball kickoff on September 30, at Beausejour Gymnasium. Defending champions Sir Arthur Lewis Community College (SALCC) and Soufrière Comprehensive claimed victories in Group A, while St. Mary’s College (SMC) and Leon Hess Comprehensive excelled in Group B.
SALCC decisively defeated Castries Comprehensive Secondary School (CCSS) with a score of 78-39, led by Joel Desrivieres, who scored 24 points, alongside six rebounds and four steals. Malik Dennis added 18 points, eight rebounds, and seven steals. For CCSS, Meshach Duboulary excelled, contributing 20 points, 12 rebounds, and three steals.
Soufrière triumphed over Entrepot Secondary, securing a 55-30 victory, fueled by Cordin Jones’ 23 points. Meanwhile, SMC dominated Vieux Fort Comprehensive Secondary School (VFCSS) 67-15, with Jabarie Archibald impressively scoring 21 points. The tournament, featuring 38 matches, is scheduled to conclude on November 4.
