West Indies head coach Daren Sammy is optimistic about his team's prospects against New Zealand in the forthcoming Test series. Set to commence at Hagley Oval in Christchurch on December 1, Sammy asserts that his squad possesses the necessary strength to compete effectively against the Kiwis. Despite recent setbacks in both the five-match T20 International and three-match One Day International series, the Men in Maroon demonstrated competitive spirit throughout. Sammy highlighted that the Caribbean side made several noteworthy strides from those losses. “We created numerous chances to win. Even though we fell short, New Zealand has established a formidable home advantage,” he remarked. When questioned about achieving victory, he stated, “We haven’t won here since 1995, which poses a challenge. However, the intensity during training today gives me confidence. Competing successfully is vital, and we’ll need to execute our plans well here in New Zealand.” The West Indies will miss the Joseph brothers, Alzzari and Shamar, but Sammy noted that emerging talents like Jayden Seales and Ojay Shields are ready to step up.
