Sen. Cory Booker hosts Flint roundtable to tout Harris plan for small businesses

FLINT, Mich. (WJRT) – U.S. Senator Cory Booker (D-New Jersey) was in Flint Friday to discuss Vice President Kamala Harris’ goal to help small businesses. Senator Booker was joined by State Senator and Congressional candidate Kristen McDonald Rivet as well as several local business owners for a roundtable discussion. “This is an entrepreneurial administration that Harris-Walz will be,” said the Senator. “They really believe in the opportunity economy, and think it’s not about big corporations like Donald Trump gave the biggest record tax breaks to, but it’s about small businesses which is where Harris-Walz will be focusing.” The New Jersey Senator said Harris and Governor Tim Walz plan to give tax breaks for starting small businesses, as well as no interest rate loans. The plan calls for expanding the startup tax deductible from $5,000 to $50,000. They say their goal is to help 25 million Americans start a new business during the next four years if elected. It comes on the same day that Democrats are triumphing a $60 million investment by the Department of Energy to help bring battery manufacturer NanoGraf to the former Buick City site.
