Sherry Turner has been appointed the twelfth president of Hartford International University for Religion and Peace, making history as its first African American president, effective July 1. Formerly Hartford Seminary, this graduate institution serves around 100 students, with 24 percent identifying as Black. In addition to her presidential duties, Dr. Turner will teach psychology. An ordained Baptist reverend, she boasts extensive experience in ministry and academia. Her previous role was vice president of strategic initiatives at Rhodes College, bolstering her credentials in educational leadership. “I cherish this chance to enhance HIU's role in inter-religious education,” she stated.
