By Robert J. Hansen | OBSERVER Staff Writer Grant Union High School in North Sacramento was on lockdown for much of the school day Tuesday after a student shot another student, according to the Sacramento Police Department. Shortly before 10 a.m., police said, officers responded to a ShotSpotter activation near Grant High. As they responded, additional calls were received that a student had been shot by another student on campus property. Officers arrived and located a 17-year-old male with at least one non-life-threatening gunshot wound. The victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment. A 14-year-old male suspect was located and arrested in a joint effort between officers from the city and the Twin Rivers School District. “This was an isolated and targeted incident and there is no outstanding threat,” a police spokesperson told The OBSERVER. “We are shocked and saddened to hear of the events that led to a Twin Rivers student being shot at Grant High School,” the district said in a statement. “Psychologists and counselors are available for students and staff to share and process this event.” After Sacramento police gave clearance, parents were allowed to pick up children from the Grant West Campus.
