Dr. Shanda Lee Harracksingh and Danny Butcher emerged as pivotal figures during their debut public appearances after being officially endorsed as candidates by the Saint Lucia Labour Party for Micoud South and Vieux Fort South, respectively. They spoke at the “Youth Vybe” Rally hosted by the SLP Youth Organisation over the weekend. Harracksingh, poised to contest against former Prime Minister and Opposition Leader Allen Chastanet for the Micoud South seat, did not shy away from critiquing Chastanet’s leadership, which she referred to as “dysfunctional.” She boldly stated, “I am putting him on notice today. Tell Santa Claus to bring his resignation to the constituency,” expressing her belief that his time is running out. Prioritizing education and healthcare, she committed to establishing a scholarship annually for a Micoud South resident, aiming to create “meaningful opportunities” in the community. Simultaneously, Butcher is preparing to succeed former Prime Minister Dr. Kenny Anthony in Vieux Fort South, urging the youth to embrace the SLP’s legacy while gearing up for future electoral participation.
