On a brisk, cloud-laden Saturday morning brimming with potential, hundreds converged at 75th and King Drive, driven by a shared mission: to ignite a movement. The “Spend in the Black” initiative, led by Rev. Dr. Charlie Dates and Ald. William Hall (6th), highlighted Black entrepreneurship and economic independence. Featuring over 100 vendors, hourly $1,000 giveaways, and a vibrant display of community spirit, the street thrummed with excitement, aiming to motivate consumers to support the flourishing Black-owned enterprises in the area.
