On Thursday, Arlington Home and Gardens in West Birmingham resonated with hope, music, and unity as the community gathered for a poignant breast cancer awareness luncheon. This event united 26 survivors, enthusiasts, and medical professionals to honor those impacted by breast cancer while emphasizing the significance of early detection and education. “Breast cancer is challenging, but we survivors are even more resilient,” expressed Eva Johnson, who has been cancer-free for 11 years. Local advocate Chanda Temple, who organized the SurviveHer At The Table series, remarked on the vital role of regular screenings and community support for those affected by breast cancer. With October marking Breast Cancer Awareness Month, participants shared heartfelt stories, explored new treatment advancements, and received details about local resources. After the luncheon, Temple invited survivors to ring a bell symbolizing the end of their treatment, celebrating their triumphs together. “The aim was to empower and uplift them, reminding them they have unwavering support,” Temple stated.
