NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (TDMHSAS) is dedicating $5.2 million in grants to create secure, high-quality, and affordable housing for individuals grappling with mental health issues, recovering from addiction, and reintegrating after incarceration. Twelve nonprofits statewide will establish 101 new beds via the Creating Homes Initiative (CHI). Since its launch in 2000, CHI has amassed over $1.3 billion in varied funding, enabling more than 36,000 housing opportunities, with expansions addressing wider recovery needs.
