Tennessee State Representatives Justin Pearson and Justin Jones will be the guest speakers at the Democratic Black Caucus of Florida’s (DBCF) 41st conference on Saturday, June 8. The conference, June 7-9, will be held at the Rosen Centre Hotel at 9840 International Drive, Orlando.  Pearson, Jones and Gloria Johnson participated in a protest for gun control in front of the Tennessee State House after a fatal shooting at a Nashville private school where three children and three adults were killed.  Pearson and Jones were expelled for their participation. Johnson, who is white, avoided expulsion. Both Pearson and Jones reclaimed their legislative seats after a special election. “Democracy Will Not Die On Our Watch” is the theme of the conference, said DBCF President Trevor Mallory, promising a conference with informative workshops and the June 8 gala featuring Pearson and Jones. The conference will include a June 8 Black Media mini-summit and a session featuring current political candidates. DBCF was established in 1983 to unite and increase the political power for Black Democrats. DBCF is a part of the Florida Democratic Party.
