In a troubling incident this week, a distressed resident lashed out at a Black street performer, known as Pressure P, while she sang gospel music on a street corner in Oakland, California. Identifying as a “trap Evangelist,” she had set up an amplified speaker on Jefferson Street, situated amidst residential apartments and towering office buildings.Instead of pursuing proper noise complaint channels, a white man emerged from his residence with a blender full of water, which he then poured over her speaker, damaging her equipment and Bible. An elderly Black man stepped in to support Pressure P, capturing the exchange on video.“You’re wrong, and you know it,” he asserted, urging the man to refrain from destroying property and suggesting he call law enforcement instead. The disturbing altercation included the harasser making dismissive remarks, while Pressure P later indicated prior aggressive interactions. Despite this aggression, each incident seems to be gaining traction on social media, shedding light on troubling dynamics within the community.
