Today, The Atlanta Voice was named a Press Forward grant recipient. This is not just a recognition but a significant step towards filling critical information gaps and serving our communities. We are part of an inaugural, historic group of more than 200 local newsrooms across the country, and your support will help us continue this vital work.Our peers include newer nonprofits, some of which were launched in response to emerging needs during the pandemic and established for-profits that have been adapting and innovating for over a century. Some newsrooms are covering stories from the vast American countryside, where they often serve as the sole news source for communities spread across hundreds of miles. Meanwhile, other outlets are focusing on people of color and linguistically diverse communities that traditional news sources have overlooked.Press Forward is funding twice as many news organizations as it initially planned through its first open call.
