Sherri Papini is once again shifting her narrative, asserting that her former boyfriend kidnapped her in 2016, casting doubt on her remaining credibility. Papini, released from prison over a year ago after serving 10 months for fabricating claims about two masked Hispanic women, first vanished on November 2, 2016, during a jog in Redding, California. Her husband reported her missing, prompting extensive searches and a GoFundMe campaign that generated over $49,000 in support.
Twenty-two days later, Papini reappeared, disheveled and bruised, having spent the duration at boyfriend James Reyes’ apartment. Now, she alleges Reyes coerced her while she concealed their affair. These explosive claims will feature in the documentary “Sherri Papini — Caught in a Lie,” launching May 26. However, skepticism lingers regarding her evolving story, especially given Reyes’ insistence that her narrative is fabricated.
