The Future of Malcolm’s Point: Hope or Hot Air?

As reported by the Dallas Documenters, the corner of Merlin Street and Al Lipscomb Way will soon be the site of a new $2.3 million commercial retail center. According to proponents of the project, these spaces will be able to accommodate office, retail and even restaurant ventures.Like the saying goes, that sounds all well and good, but how do the people living in Malcolm’s Point feel about the project currently slated for completion by next spring? We decided to reach out to Tameca Harris, a digital marketer and longtime resident of the area, for her observations.While Ms. Harris expressed hopefulness and gratitude that new businesses would be coming to the neighborhood, she was also quite pragmatic about what sometimes happens to projects initially sold as a community benefit, from pricing local entrepreneurs out of opportunities to ignoring outcomes such as increased traffic and loitering.& See the whole& interview& on our YouTube page.
