Three African American Who Have Been Assign to Administrative Posts in Higher Education

Charlie W. Coleman, III is the new associate vice president of development at Texas Southern University in Houston. Coleman most recently served as the assistant vice president of development and alumni relations at Dillard University in New Orleans. A native of Louisiana, Coleman is a graduate of Dillard University, where he majored in political science. He holds an executive MBA from Howard University and a juris doctorate with a specialization in technology and entrepreneurship from Loyola University School of Law. Shawnrece Campbell was named assistant vice president for diversity and inclusion at Northern Michigan University in Marquette. She is the former dean of the College of Liberal Arts and director of the School of Art, Media and Communication at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. Dr. Campbell earned a bachelor’s in English at John Carroll University in University Heights, Ohio, a master’s degree in English at Youngstown State University in Ohio, an MBA at Stetson University in Florida, and a doctorate in English with an emphasis on African American and multicultural literature at Kent State University in Ohio.
