Lawsuit Says School’s Inaction Allowed Two Years Of Hate Toward Black Student

The mother of a Black and Asian elementary student in Las Vegas has initiated legal action against the Clark County School District, claiming her son faced nearly two years of persistent racial harassment while school authorities failed to intervene.Jessica Orta alleges that her son, referred to as “I.B.” in the federal lawsuit filed on September 22, endured offensive verbal and physical assaults from peers, including being taunted with slurs and racial remarks like being “too black” for entry into O.K. Adcock Elementary School.The bullying reportedly began in the fall of the 2023 academic year, escalating as time went on. Despite Orta’s numerous notifications to school officials about the hate-driven attacks, no effective remedial action was taken. The lawsuit claims that school administrators even mandated a confrontation between I.B. and his aggressors, which resulted in further abuse.
