Donald Trump’s recent attack on notable Black media personality Charlamagne tha God is rekindling attention on his extensive history of racially charged behavior. In a post on Truth Social, Trump labeled the radio host a “racist sleazebag” and a “low-IQ individual” after Charlamagne critiqued Trump’s potential return to the White House during a Fox News interview with Lara Trump. “I can't say he did a bad job, but if he has, I must call it like it is,” remarked Charlamagne, whose given name is Lenard McKelvey. In his furious response, Trump questioned the appropriateness of Charlamagne’s use of the term “God" in his name. Trump's reaction resembles a long-standing pattern of derogatory remarks targeting Black figures, echoing dehumanizing language previously used against various Black prosecutors. Experts highlight that his inflammatory rhetoric not only reflects but amplifies existing racial prejudices, further deepening societal divides.
