Photo by Donnell Suggs/The Atlanta VoiceJONESBORO – The drive-thru line outside of the first Tim Hortons franchise in Clayton County stretched around the building on the morning of Friday, Nov. 15 as staff and Tim Hortons corporate employees posed for a ribbon-cutting photo. Founded in 1964 in Hamilton, Canada, Tim Hortons isn’t your household name for breakfast sandwiches, donuts, and iced coffees in Georgia like a Dunkin’ or Starbucks, despite having 697 locations in the United States, according to the company’s website. That did not stop the company from moving into Clayton County earlier this month. The Jonesboro store is only the fourth in Georgia, with the midtown Atlanta, Fairburn, and Columbus locations being the first three. Abid Khutliwala, the owner of the Columbus, Fairburn, and Jonesboro locations, told The Atlanta Voice that there are plans for new Tim Hortons locations in Alpharetta, Johns Creek, and in Newnan during the first quarter of 2025.
