Tuskegee University Launches New Clean Energy Research Center

Tuskegee University, a historically Black educational institutional in Alabama, has partnered with Johnson Energy Storage to establish the Dr. Lonnie Johnson Technology Research & Incubation Center on the HBCU’s campus. The new center will focus on providing the Tuskegee community with hands-on research opportunities using cutting-edge technology from Johnson Energy Storage. Students and faculty will collaborate with industry experts on real-world projects to develop clean, safe, and affordable energy solutions. “As a Tuskegee alumnus, it is an honor to create opportunities for the next generation of innovators and entrepreneurs. This Center will embody our vision to push the boundaries of energy technology while uplifting the communities that shaped us,” said Lonnie Johnson, founder of Johnson Energy Storage. “We are excited to collaborate with Tuskegee University to establish a center that will drive both technological advancements and economic development.” Johnson received his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, master’s degree in nuclear engineering, and honorary doctorate from Tuskegee University.
