The incident was documented by her daughter, Lynell McElveen, who sought to defend her mother during the arrest related to a traffic offense outside a fast-food establishment in St. Bernard. In the video, taken by McElveen, she calmly tried to de-escalate the situation while maintaining a safe distance when one deputy abruptly ordered her away, even threatening arrest. McElveen, known as Muppy Brown on social media, explained that her mother suffers from numerous health issues, including diabetes, anxiety, and chronic pain. McElveen emphasized the importance of law enforcement exhibiting more empathy and proper training in dealing with individuals with medical conditions.
