A Virginia nurse, Erin Elizabeth Anne Strotman, has faced grave charges of felony abuse and malicious wounding for allegedly fracturing the bones of infants in a neonatal intensive care unit. Her nursing license has since been suspended, and the charges against her have escalated significantly.Arising from a troubling investigation, Strotman, 26, was initially charged in January concerning the injuries of a five-month-old boy. Evidence reportedly includes surveillance footage capturing her mishandling the child. As further evidence surfaced, prosecutors lodged 20 additional child abuse-related counts against her, involving injuries to nine infants at Henrico Doctors' Hospital. An internal investigation was initiated when two infants were found with inexplicable fractures. Alarmingly, this resembled a past incident in 2023 when four babies sustained similar injuries. Reports indicate that the hospital failed to promptly notify relevant authorities about these previous incidents, resulting in policy violations. The Virginia Board of Nursing suspended Strotman's license, highlighting significant concerns regarding public safety. (Photo: Henrico County Sheriff’s Office)
