Virginia State University to Offer New Undergraduate Degree in Mechanical Engineering

The College of Engineering and Technology at historically Black Virginia State University will offer a new bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering starting in the Fall 2024 semester after recently receiving official approval from the State Council of Higher Education of Virginia. The new mechanical engineering program will become the third bachelor’s degree program in the College of Engineering and Technology, which currently offers degrees in computer engineering and manufacturing engineering. The mechanical engineering curriculum will teach students to design, develop, install, test, and maintain a plethora of mechanical products such as transmissions, engines, prosthetics, turbines, robots, vehicles, and more. “The approval of the bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering is a testament to VSU’s dedication to academic excellence and preparing our students for success in STEM fields,” said Tia A.
