We Carry the Truth They Tried to Bury

The last link to my family's origins in antebellum Southern Virginia passed away at 105. My grandmother, Mamie Todd, who fought against segregation and supported civil rights, embodies the strength of our lineage. Currently, the Trump administration's efforts are erasing vital narratives from our history, targeting essential contributions of Black leaders and events, thereby threatening our collective memory. Such actions are not mere adjustments; they signify an intentional erasure. History is power, and we must defend our rightful place in America’s story.
