Micoud North MP Jeremiah Norbert has extended sympathies to the family and friends of the toddler who perished in a Praslin house fire on Wednesday.
Norbert described three-year-old Zayan Peter as a loving, bright, charming little boy whose family he knows very well.
“This is a very difficult time for you, and your community stands with you in this time of sorrow and grief. I pray that the strength and guidance of the Lord carries you. We will do all that we can to assist,” the MP wrote on Facebook.
According to a police release, on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, at about 12:50 pm, officers from the Dennery Police Station heard of a house fire in Praslin, Dennery.
The release said that, upon arrival, the officers had observed a 20-foot by 30-foot wooden structure fully engulfed in flames.
Personnel from the Saint Lucia Fire Service (SLFS) who fought the blaze learned that a toddler might have been trapped in the house after they contained the fire and later discovered the child’s body.
