A sheriff’s deputy in Los Angeles is facing scrutiny after detaining a Black man, Alec Sisson, in front of his children for allegedly rolling through a stop sign. Sisson, with his two sons aged 8 and 10, was merely two blocks from his mother's residence when he was stopped, admitting to a slow roll. Upon presenting his license and registration, the deputy grew concerned for his safety after discovering Sisson lacked proof of insurance and ordered him out of the vehicle.Despite Sisson’s offer to contact his mother for insurance confirmation, the deputy insisted on handcuffing him, citing safety protocols. During this distressing moment, Sisson urged his son to record the incident. The deputy, named Guerrero, escalated the situation by calling for backup. Sisson asserts he was wrongfully detained and plans to seek legal counsel against the Sheriff’s Department for what he calls an unjustified stop. The detainment left him in a state of distress.
