"Preserving Emmett Till's Legacy: The Urgent Call for Illinois to Act"

Emmett Till, a 14-year-old Black boy, was murdered in 1955 for allegedly whistling at a white woman. His brutal killing sparked outrage and became pivotal in the civil rights movement. I introduced House Bill 2755 to establish July 25 as Emmett Till Day, promoting reflection and education against racial violence in Illinois.
