Why AOC is Backing Mamdani for Mayor of New York City

Assemblyman Zohran Mamdani has proven adept at mobilizing a formidable coalition of working-class New Yorkers, positioning him as a leading candidate. As we approach the race's conclusion, it's essential we acknowledge this reality. On June 24th, I am casting my top choice for mayor in favor of Zohran, and I encourage others to do the same. Our ranked choice voting system allows us to endorse five candidates who truly advocate for a united front in pursuit of a better New York City. Following Mamdani, I will rank City Council Speaker Adrienne Adams second, Comptroller Brad Lander third, former Comptroller Scott Stringer fourth, and State Senator Zellnor Myrie fifth. Importantly, do not support Andrew Cuomo—leave his bubble blank. This strategic choice safeguards our institutions from his politicized influence. We deserve steadfast progressive leadership to tackle pressing issues like housing instability and minimum wage support.
