Woman Struck By Vehicle In Castries Dies

A woman struck by a vehicle near the Bisee junction in Castries on Saturday has succumbed to multiple injuries. Reports indicate that a Ford Ranger pickup hit the woman as she crossed the highway median. After learning of the incident, emergency personnel from the Saint Lucia Fire Service (SLFS) Headquarters in Castries rushed to the scene at about 8:03 p.m. The responders found the woman, who appeared to be in her late forties to early fifties, motionless and unresponsive. In addition, she exhibited no vital signs. The emergency personnel administered CPR and continued doing so as they transported the victim to the OKEU Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The pickup driver, who was the sole occupant of his vehicle, was badly shaken due to the road incident but was not injured. The matter is currently under police investigation.
