A man, who was tased and injured by police in front of his 6-year-old daughter after a diabetic episode led to a car crash, is pursuing legal action against Sebastopol, California, and three officers, alleging excessive force and wrongful imprisonment among other claims. In a federal lawsuit filed on July 24, Jeffrey Callaghan asserts that responding officers recognized his hypoglycemic state, which mimics drunkenness, but instead of seeking medical help, they falsely charged him with multiple offenses like evasion and child endangerment to deflect accountability for his injuries.Callaghan, who has Type 1 diabetes, experienced distressing symptoms after a seemingly enjoyable day with his daughter. Following their trip to a park, he lost consciousness and crashed. Officer Forrest Whitehall, suspecting intoxication, issued aggressive commands as Callaghan struggled.Despite showing signs of low blood sugar, officers employed excessive force, tasing him multiple times while his daughter pleaded for his safety. The incident culminated in severe injuries and charges that were later dismissed, leading Callaghan to seek justice in court. (Photo: Screenshot of Sebastopol Police video via The Press Democrat)
