The Youth Summer Arts Platform (YSAP), the Cultural Development Foundation's premier initiative, concluded this week after an engaging five-week program. Over 150 participants from the island's north and south immersed themselves in a variety of disciplines, including film, photography, theatre, visual arts, drumming, and theatrical makeup. Ryan Germain, the senior media and communications officer at CDF, remarked, “The Youth Summer Arts Platform…is not only a moment, but it’s a movement.” This initiative seeks to connect youth with arts and culture during the summer while fostering a legacy of cultural heritage for future generations. The final performance, titled Drum-Maker, adapts a play by acclaimed Saint Lucian poet and playwright Kendall Hippolyte. Germain emphasized that the production offers participants a chance to showcase their newfound skills and understand local arts and culture. Scheduled for Saturday, August 23, at the National Cultural Centre, tickets are priced at $30 for adults and $10 for children. Field trips and local sponsorship further enriched this year's offerings.
