CINCINNATI – It’s back! Presented by TriHealth, the 2024 Midwest Black Family Reunion (BFR) is set to return to the Queen City Aug. 15-18. This year’s theme is “Dedicated & Determined.” The four-day family friendly celebration kicks off with BFR Speaks on Thursday, Aug. 15, featuring keynote speaker and award-winning journalist Roland Martin, followed by the Heritage Breakfast on Friday, Aug. 16, at Fountain Square with Cincinnati City Manager Sheryl Long as the keynote. A parade through Avondale takes place on Saturday morning Aug. 17. The main event is at Sawyer Point Aug. 17-18, featuring hip-hop pioneer Doug E. Fresh on Saturday, and Choirfest featuring gospel music artist Ricky Dillard on Sunday. Provided This year’s BFR will honor Pastor KZ Smith and First Lady Connie Smith of Corinthian Baptist Church with the Family of the Year Award. Former Cincinnati mayor Dwight Tillery will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award. This year’s parade Grand Marshall will be world-renowned artist and author Annie Ruth.
