LOUISVILLE, Ky. — This year's annual 502 Black Business Week launched with a vibrant weekend farmer’s market. The West End Farmers Market took place Sunday at California Park, celebrating both Black fatherhood and local enterprises. Families delighted in the offerings of over 30 local vendors, live musical performances, wellness activities, and an engaging body movement workshop tailored for fathers. T’von Terry, the director of the farmer’s market, expressed his commitment to serving as a bridge for current and future generations, emphasizing, “We don’t have to leave the West End to achieve success; we can thrive here by supporting one another.” Now in its eighth year, 502 Black Business Week is a citywide initiative that aligns with Juneteenth celebrations. The week highlights Black-owned businesses through exclusive offers and promotions. Organizers believe this approach is instrumental in supporting local Black enterprises and addressing the racial wealth gap. Shoppers only need to mention “502 Black Business Week” at participating establishments to take part. A list of these businesses is available here.
