Investigators Say Man Murdered 32-Year-Old Mistress for Refusing to Leave Husband and Dumped Her Baby in a Lake

A 61-year-old man, Jose Rodriguez, is charged with the first-degree murder of 32-year-old Geraldina Peguero-Mancebo and her one-year-old son, Jayden Junior Peguero. The grim discovery of Peguero-Mancebo’s body occurred on September 19 in Reading, Pennsylvania, with her child’s remains unearthed the following day in a nearby marsh, having been reported missing a week prior.The investigation revealed that Rodriguez had been in a purported romantic involvement with Peguero-Mancebo while financially supporting her, which included covering her rent. Infuriated by her refusal to leave her spouse, he confessed to shooting her in the head. Rodriguez stated he initially contemplated taking her son to a hospital but instead committed the heinous act of throwing the infant into a lake while he was still alive.Rodriguez faces numerous charges, including three counts of first-degree murder. Berks County authorities are contemplating pursuing the death penalty as the case unfolds.
