According to court documents, a civil action against Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones has been rescheduled for a jury trial on August 11.
Jones and the plaintiff’s lawyers appeared before Dallas County District Court Judge Aiesha Redmond last week. Redmond declared at the conclusion of the hearing that the trial, which was originally set for March 3, would be postponed.
A South Carolina lady filed the complaint in September 2020, but the Texas Supreme Court dismissed it and reopened it. She claims that Jones “kissed her on the mouth and forcibly grabbed her without her consent” in AT&T Stadium on September 16, 2018, during a Cowboys game.
Jones stated in a prior affidavit submitted in the lawsuit that he would testify that he did not remember meeting the woman if he were deposed. He referred to the accusations as “categorically false” and denied ever sexually assaulting her. In order to give the pre-trial discovery phase more time, Jones’ lawyers asked that a new trial date be set at least six months in advance.
Thomas Bowers, the plaintiff’s lawyer, has stated on multiple occasions to The Dallas Morning News that his client is prepared for her court appearance....
