Shameta Jones-Harrell has made history as the inaugural female police chief of Austell, Georgia—the first woman to head any police department in Cobb County. With over 20 years in law enforcement, she showcases an impressive history of leadership and a commitment to community-oriented policing. Sworn in recently, Jones-Harrell emphasized her aims: increasing female representation within the force, bolstering community engagement, and achieving state accreditation for her department. Her exemplary career began in 2000 at the College Park Police Department, where she excelled in various roles, including a detective and a member of the SWAT team. As deputy chief in Austell, she initiated numerous community outreach programs, passionately advocating for women in law enforcement.
