Amine Mojito, whose birth name is Ilan M., received a 12-month prison sentence, with six months to be served in custody. A Paris court concluded that his viral stunts constituted “violence using a weapon not resulting in incapacity,” according to the French outlet Libération. The 27-year-old also faced a €1,500 fine and was barred from weapon possession or carrying for three years. His provocative videos, which showed him approaching unsuspecting individuals with a capped syringe, surfaced just prior to the Fête de la Musique festival in June, triggering widespread alarm.Prosecutors indicated that these videos heightened fears regarding a recent surge in syringe-related assaults within the country. Describing him as a “public menace,” they argued that Mojito exacerbated anxiety in an already tense situation. One victim testified it felt “like a nightmare,” citing existing health concerns.
